What this tool does

Identify Genre is a free web app that analyses public Spotify artist or track URLs and returns a genre intelligence report. You do not need an account to use the analyser.

Data you submit

When you paste a Spotify URL, that URL is sent to our server so we can fetch public artist metadata from Spotify and enrich it with Last.fm, MusicBrainz, and related sources. We do not ask for your Spotify password.

Caching

Reports may be cached briefly (for example in Redis) to reduce API load and speed up repeat lookups for the same artist. Cache entries are operational, not a personal profile.

Mailing list

If you join the mailing list, we store the email address you provide to send product updates. You can stop receiving emails by contacting us via lukebyatt.com.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics for aggregated traffic metrics (pages, performance). This is not used to sell personal data.

Third-party APIs

Artist lookups call third-party services (Spotify, Last.fm, MusicBrainz, and similar). Those providers process the request under their own terms. Only public artist identifiers and related query parameters are sent.
