How do I identify an artist's genre?
Paste a Spotify artist or track URL into Identify Genre and click Analyse. The tool classifies genres using Spotify, Last.fm, MusicBrainz, and Every Noise at Once data, then returns a full datasheet with similar artists, ads targeting, playlists, and markets.
Is Identify Genre free?
Yes. Identify Genre is free to use and does not require a login. You can analyse artists and export PDF or CSV reports at no cost.
What data sources power the genre classification?
Identify Genre uses a multi-source cascade: Spotify for artist identity, Last.fm for community genre tags and similar artists, MusicBrainz for structured music metadata, and Every Noise at Once for genre-space context. When one source is thin, later layers fill the gaps.
Can I export the report?
Yes. After analysis you can export a PDF report or CSV data from the results view for pitching, targeting, or internal notes.
Do I need a Spotify Developer account?
No. You only need a public Spotify artist or track URL. Identify Genre handles API access on the server; you do not paste API keys in the browser.
What can I do with the similar artists and targeting tabs?
Use similar artists for lookalike discovery, ads targeting suggestions for campaign setup, playlist targets for pitching, and geo listenership signals to prioritise markets.
